Build Quality and First Impressions

Out of the box, the Kraton 8S immediately feels premium. The chassis is thick aluminum, the suspension components feel solid, and the overall assembly is tight with no rattles or flex. ARRMA has clearly engineered this for punishment. The wheelbase is massive — this is a true 1/5 scale monster that commands attention wherever you take it.

Power and Speed

On 8S LiPo the Kraton launches hard. We're talking zero to full throttle in a fraction of a second with serious wheelspin even on pavement. GPS tests have shown 70+ mph runs on good ground, and the acceleration is violent in the best way. If you've only ever run 4S or 6S trucks, 8S is a different league entirely. The BLX 8S motor and ESC combo runs cool even after extended sessions.

Durability and Bash Testing

We sent the Kraton over jumps, into curbs, down stairs, and off ramps. It survived everything. The RPM-style a-arms hold up well, though after extended abuse we did replace them with aftermarket RPM arms as a precaution. The diff and gearbox showed no issues. The body takes cosmetic damage but the mechanicals stayed solid throughout.

Value for Money

At this price point the Kraton isn't for everyone. You're paying for the best, and you get it. Factor in 8S batteries and a good charger and the total investment is significant. But if you're serious about bashing at the highest level, there's nothing else quite like it. The resale value also holds up well.

Final Verdict

If you want the ultimate 1/5 scale basher and aren't afraid to spend the money, the Kraton 8S is unmatched. It's an investment but it delivers.
